There are only so many hours in the day. Between school, work, family time, and keeping up with your social life, it’s almost impossible to get in the necessary time to go to the gym. However, you shouldn’t neglect your good health just because you don’t have hours to spend getting in shape. With just a few quick tips you can make the most of what little time you have in the gym.
Water and Carbs
What you put in to your body is crucial to getting the results that you want. Experts agree that drinking 64 ounces of water a day is essential to keeping you hydrated and energized. Drink water throughout the day, as it takes a few hours for your body to absorb.
Before your workout, make sure you eat slow-digesting carbs to give you that boost of energy when you hit the gym. Whole grain breads, fruits, and oatmeal are great ways to give you more endurance during your workout.
Train to Failure
Instead of doing two or three sets of a certain number of reps, just do one set of an exercise until you can no longer keep it up with proper form. Be careful, though. Pushing through with improper form to get those last couple of reps in is a sure fire way to suffer an injury. Listen to your body and keep going until your form breaks.
Workout with Friends!
Get your social life and your workout time in together. Grab your best friend and make a commitment to staying fit together. You’re bound to keep each other motivated and on task and a buddy will always be there to spot you. Also a little healthy competition may give you the encouragement you need to go the extra mile in your workout.
